Description: Antique 14K rose and white gold locket with a most interesting and unique design, c1910. It is square with two decorative arms down the sides of the locket finishing at the top with three loops and a large bale, so it hangs in a diamond fashion. The front cover has a six point star design set within the white gold square, within the rose gold framework. The genuine full cut diamond measures approximately .10 points and is seated in a star cut-out, held in place with six prongs. It has a mortise and tenon hinge on the right lower edge and the thumb catch is on the opposite side at the upper left. The reverse side is completely plain. There are a few periods in our past in which rose gold was used quite regularly in creating jewelry. The gold content is the same, however the difference is in the alloys used. More copper colored alloys are used in the rose gold jewelry to give it the pinkish hue.
