Sweet, naive Pierrot, first the trusting fool, buffoon, his function and persona changed throughout the centuries, interpreted by writers and actors each with their own, unique point of view. Pierrot is commonly known today as the sad clown.
This is a lovely depiction of the classic Pierrot character in his long, floppy white suit with a pointed 'dunce' cap.
CONDITION is very nice. Signed in the casting "Remi" as shown. The bronze appears to have been originally painted (I think) gold, which has worn on some of the high spots. Some of the corners of his marble pedestal have been smoothed. Altogether, this piece has a mellow, golden glow. Measures 7 1/2" tall overall on its pedestal which measures 1 3/4" high, the bronze alone is about 5 3/4" tall. Weighs almost two pounds.
This petit Pierrot has a romantic presence, a reminder of La Belle Epoque and the great French mimes. Perfect for a special, intimate setting. Enjoy!
