A beautiful Royal Doulton Slaters Patent vase. This large piece is almost entirely covered with a glittering, gilded pattern of flowers and swirls in white and turquoise with only a narrow glazed base and lip. It's difficult to capture the lively, dancing glint of the gilding over the surface of this lovely vase in a still photograph.
CONDITION is excellent antique, the only exception being a chip on the inside bottom of the foot ring, invisible unless you pick the vase up and turn it over to look for it. Exhaustively marked as Royal Doulton often is. The “Doulton & Slaters Patent” mark was in use from 1886 - 1914, and the impressed Royal Doulton mark surmounted with the lion and crown was used like this from 1902 - 1922 and again from 1927 - 1936. The potter’s initials appear as “fr” along with various other numbers and initials. Measures 12 ¾” tall, the top rim is 3 ⅜” in diameter outside to outside, the base measures just shy of 3” in diameter. Weighs 2 lbs. 7.3 oz.
Impressive in stature, this beautiful vase will brighten up a dark corner or a gloomy mood. Enjoy!
