20th C Impressionistic Cafe Scene - Signed Oil on Canvas - image 1 of 8

This charming oil or acrylic on canvas captures the warm glow and atmosphere of a busy cafe. An evocative and delightful painting with echoes of the past, but somehow firmly rooted in the 20th C. The patrons sit on bentwood chairs and crowd around small round tables, you can almost hear the clatter of glassware and the hum of intimate conversation.

Painted in the tradition of the great 19th C Impressionists who also loved painting cafe scenes, this artist captures the 'feeling' of the scene rather than realistic details. Your eye is drawn around the room, always ending on the lady in orange siting with her back to us. Relationships and intrigues are hinted at but never revealed.

CONDITION is fantastic with no problems to report. It is signed at the lower right and on the verso, and the name "Bouschard" is written on the back of the frame (I'm guessing this is the client for whom the frame was made, but I can’t be certain). Try as I might, I have not been able to make out the artists name - if you recognize it I'd appreciate an email. Framed under glass in a gold wooden frame with a wide linen mat and inner gold fillet. Oil or acrylic on canvas. Measures 22 3/4" x 18 5/8" overall, with a sight size of 15 1/2" x 11 1/2". Weighs 4 lbs. 15 oz.

Bathed in warm golden light, this painting feels like an invitation to raise a glass and share a story. Cheers!
