A sweet painting of a European landscape by Dr. C Presént. Finely rendered, almost photographic in some places and yet impressionistic in others. This piece also has an architectural quality, documenting the structure of the small bridge quite exactly. Signed as shown at the lower left, "Dr. C Persént, Bremen" at the lower left, so I presume this is a countryside scene near Bremen in northwest Germany.

CONDITION is excellent. The gold frame shows normal wear and minor losses to the gold that can be touched up. The painting shows some good age, this is not a new piece. The unusual straps on the back of the frame securing the stretchers at the bottom are made of leather. Measures 21 ¾” x 29 ⅜” overall, with the painting on its stretchers measuring 18 ½” x 26 ⅛”

Painted by a skilled artist, this piece draws your eye along the stream and over the flowering hedges into the hazy distance through the break in the tree line. A lovely piece of original art that will have you dreaming of springtime strolls in the country. Enjoy!
