A crisp and exquisitely detailed steel engraving after Timoleon Marie Lobrichon ( 1831 - 1914 ), a French artist especially recognized for his depictions of children whose paintings have sold in the high five figures. This print is an exceptionally charming image of a baby playing with water in a washbowl, the intent concentration on her face equal parts of curiosity, wonder, and delight. I particularly like the skillful rendering of the splashing water. The frame is a treasure in and of itself, a decorative Eastlake Victorian walnut beauty. There is an old label on the back which says something like "To Grand mother Rich… all affection from Rich," I can't quite make it all out.

CONDITION is excellent antique. The print is in wonderful condition. There is normal wear to the appealing antique frame with one small loss of less than an inch to the edge of the inner gold filet at the bottom right corner (see photograph) - bet you won't notice. unless you're looking for it. Measures 13 1/2" x 11 3/4" overall, sight size measures 9 1/8" x 7 3/16", and the printed image measures 7 11/16" x 6 3/16".

This piece will make you smile, all chubby fingers and toes. A real treasure. Enjoy!
