A lively, lovely diminutive watercolor of the River Yonne in Burgundy, France with the Cathedrale Saint-Etienne d'Auxerre rising majestically in the background beyond a gracefully arched bridge. I particularly like the movement of the ripples and reflections in the water's surface. It was apparently a sunny spring day and the artist has skillfully captured the shadows of the bell towers falling across the red roof of the cathedral.
Framed in a simple oak frame with a complementary mat, this painting is ready to hang.
CONDITION is excellent. The piece is signed by the listed artist Karl Hahn at the lower right, and titled and dated "Auxerre - June '45" at the lower left. Measures 12 1/2" x 10 1/2" overall, with a sight size inside the mat of 7 1/8" x 6 1/4". Weighs 1 lb. 3 oz.
A pretty little piece with a sunny disposition. Enjoy!
