This handsome bronze by Bill Henderson depicts an aged Man beating an old tribal drum and singing. Entitled "The Old Songs" by Bill Henderson. The detail is skillfully rendered, the earrings, the pattern and texture of the man's vest under his blanket, his feathers and hair ornament, all finely modeled. A handsome piece.
CONDITION is wonderful with no problems to report. It is signed both on the brass plaque attached to the wooden base, and in the casting, "B Henderson" with the 'B' flanked by what looks like two wings so that it almost becomes a symbol or logo. Also numbered with the numbers "1/24" preceding the name and "78" or perhaps "18" after the name. I would think this was an edition number "1/24," followed by the year "78." Measures 10 5/8" tall including the 1 3/4" tall base, with the irregular footprint of the base measuring approximately 11 1/2" x 8" at its widest points. Weighs 14 lbs. 10 oz.
This is a wonderful bronze by a skilled artist that really captures the majesty and dignity of the old ways. Enjoy!
