Handsome porcelain figurine of a Belgian Malinois or Belgian Shepherd dog, a breed in the Sheepdog family, and often confused with the German Shapherd. Belgian Malinois' are working dogs with a keen sense of smell; often used to track, they are the breed chosen to protect the White House in the US, and they work with the Royal Australian Air Force.
This figurine bears the mark of the Germany porcelain factory Unterweißbacher Werkstätten used between 1958 and 1976, a time during which they were known for fine and detailed artistic work similar to Meissen's, producing wonderful hunting groups modeled by Heinz Schober, Kurt Steiner's musicians and harlequins, and Gustav Oppel's fine work.
CONDITION is grand, I see no aftermarket problems whatsoever. Measures 9 1/8" tail to tip of paw and 4 7/8" tall to the tip of the ear. Weighs 12.9 oz.
A fine depiction of this intelligent and alert breed. Enjoy!
