Step right up and place your bets ladies and gentlemen - aaand, they're off! America loves a game of chance, and this great old antique folk art carnival gaming wheel is Americana at its best. A wonderfully decorative arcade game with horses at full gallop carrying jockeys in their traditional silks around and around. Works perfectly.
This great wheel is still mounted on its original stand with all the original solid brass hardware and even retains the original rubber tipped clacker. I have left the brass clacker mount and wheel hub unpolished, but they would shine up beautifully if you'd like - the oversized thumb screws that secure the clacker would look particularly nice this way, just a little Steampunk. Found in New England, this particular wheel is designed to stand on a tabletop, counter, or just about anyplace you'd like to put it - the stand makes it extremely versatile. I can imagine it at the end of a bar, or even on a wide mantle.
CONDITION is great. The wheel shows only minimal signs of wear, it's in much better condition than most. The horse and jockey decals are still bright and undamaged, as are the four green pinwheel decals - all the other details are hand painted, the pin-striping, numbers, etc. The wheel dismounts from its stand and the base is attached with a slip-pin hinge so it can fold relatively flat for easy transport or storage. The wheel measures 23 3/4" in diameter, it is 33 1/2" to the top of the stand, and the footprint of the base is 10 1/2" in diameter. The wheel and base are made of full 3/4" plywood.
A fantastic graphic piece that will become the focal point of any room. A great way to settle arguments, decide who's going to do the dishes, or perhaps settle even more interesting wagers. So - feeling lucky?
