This beautiful 14K gold filigree ring features a large carved onyx ornamented with a small decoratively set diamond. This popular combination of stones was often used around the turn of the century through the 1920's and 1930's. This particular ring is a stand-out, definitely prettier than most; what really puts it over the top is the four stars carved into the corners of the large rectangular onyx and the diamond set in fancifully worked white gold at the nadir of the carved oval depression. The crisp planes of the onyx catch the light, reflecting a simple geometry that contrasts perfectly with the frothy white gold filigree.
CONDITION is grand, I see no problems. The ring is marked inside "14K". Size 7 3/4, nice, since many of these old rings are tiny, people used to be smaller.
Just a lovely piece of jewelry in a very wearable size. The filigree is delicate, but this ring is not a dainty piece of jewelry. Elegant, refined, and feminine ... now that's a tall order.
There will be compliments.
Enjoy!
