Here's a Handsome Sterling Silver Buckle skillfully hand crafted by Roy Tawahongva, and another artist of his time. Examining the skillful saw work and even chisel work, you can tell that these men were masters of their craft. Kokopelli is featured here, dancing and playing his flute for a healthy, tall cornstalk. Roy Tawahongva made several pieces with Eldon James. We don't know who the star like hallmark belongs to on this buckle. The chiseled RT is an early mark for Mr. Tawahongva. The buckle also bears the Hopicrafts Hallmark, and it was tested for sterling silver.
Nice Size, this Exceptional buckle measures 1 15/16 x 2 15/16. It weighs 66.4 grams. Over 2 oz. The buckle is nicely curved, to fit flat against the stomach, and the strap bar is angled for the same purpose. It measures a little over 1 1/2". The Tongue is also hand crafted.
Condition is Very Good. There are age appropriate scuffs and scratches normal for moderate use.
