Here is a Rare and Unusual Container from a truly remarkable Silver smith, Brian Clarke of Ireland. Mr Clarke started running his own Studio in 1973, and began the Irish School of Metalsmithing in 1993. He is devoted to his work. Please google "Brian Clarke Ireland" to learn about this skillful artisan, and his passion for his work. We are listing several other works of art handcrafted by Mr. Clarke, as we bought a small collection of his containers. We think that they are world class, and hope that you will too. Fully signed for Brian Clarke in the years just prior to the opening of his studio in 1973.
This is the tallest of the four containers, made in 1969. Mr. Clarke used patterned Sterling sheet for the walls on this piece, which is overlapped, as was his style during this era. The pictures show all, but one thing you might not notice is that the top of the container is oval, while the bottom is almost round.
The specs on this container are as follows: 73 grams weight, bottom is 1 1/2" x 1 5/8", top (not the lid) is 1 13/16" x 1 1/8". It is 2 13/16" high.
Condition is Vintage Excellent.
