We'd expect this fine Federal period tea caddy to be sitting behind glass doors in a museum. Instead, its sitting on one of our tables waiting for you to fall in love with it!
The outer caddy is veneered with beautiful bird's eye maple. As if that weren't enough to look at there are also 4 oval inlaid panels with floral and leaf decorations. Furthermore, this quarter fan inlaid case is surrounded with tulipwood banding and set on suppressed ball feet. (The prettiest feet we've seen on a tea caddy in ages!)
Please note how often the key is not included with an antique tea caddy......THIS ONE HAS IT'S KEY!.... Quite a rarity!
The double interior sections (and lids) are lined with the original silvered foil. If you look at the pictures, you can see the condition is quite amazing......no apologies for age on this one!
Both knobs on the interior lids are original and match. If you will note on the left interior lid, there is an old glue repair where the wood was split.
