Delicate looking and beautiful! "Woven" isn't a true description of this sweet piece. It was made by attaching two separate bowls, one within the other. Each has round strands of porcelain leaning in opposite directions....thus giving the final piece that "woven" look! The seams of both are edges with woven roping.
C.G. Schierholz & Sons was founded in Plaue, Thuringia in 1817....this is the date that most attempt to date their "Von Shierholz" pieces. It is inaccurate. "Von" wasn't added until 1900, after the family was knighted. This piece is clearly marked "Von Shierholz" and dates from between 1900 and around 1920.
The Von Shierholz mark is 3 oak leaves on a crowned shield.
Mint condition. No cracks or chips.
