We just love items from the studios of Ambrosius Lamm in Dresden, Germany. Look at all those lovely flowers enhanced by hand painted gold gilding.
This set of eight sherbets with their under plates is quite a find! We occasionally find singles, but we've never found a complete set.
In case you are wondering why we haven't called these footed wines....its because there's a matter of 1 inch (2.5 cm) difference. If they were merely an inch taller, your guests could be toasting you! Go ahead, we DARE you to use these as wine glasses! Your guests will already have been telling you what a clever person you are to have found such a rare set! Use them as a fruit cup between courses, or for homemade strawberry sorbet this summer....now THAT would look lovely in these colorful stem pieces!
All kidding aside, items from Lamm's studio are serious pieces. His porcelains are always of outstanding quality. His items enhance the most sophisticated collections.
Notice in pictures 5 & 6 how transparent the goblets are! What looks like it "could" be a reflection in the bowls of the cups, is actually showing the transparency...and that's without a direct light on them!
All pieces are hand painted and gilt.
No chips, flakes or hairlines.
Footed sherbets ar 3" tall (7.6 cm) Saucers have 5" diameter (12.7cm)
