This Rococo Revival styled duo was hand painted with alpine florals and meticulously hand applied gold embellishments by the Thieme Porcelain Manufactory in Dresden Germany. As if this gorgeous painting weren't enough, the saucer has also been reticulated (the piercings are done by hand).
We search far and wide for Thieme items in this and similar patterns. This is the first bouillon cup and saucer we've found!
Although Carl Thieme had been a successful antique dealer, his love of porcelain lead him to establish his decorating studio in 1869 where they painted white porcelain blanks. By 1872 his company began to produce its own porcelain. THieme decorated in the well-loved patterns of Meissen, Sevres and vienna. He employed experienced artisans who were especially skilled in the area of porcelain painting. Realistic florals and botanicals from the old masters were closely copied from arrangements in books and from Meissen. The Thieme Factory is still in existence and producing the museum quality work it has been known for all these years.
