Wonderful Sterling Whiting and Davis Chatelaine weighing approximately 66 grams ( 2.1 Troy ounces) and 8” long.
The 5 piece chatelaine is composed of a perfume bottle with cork stopper; lipstick holder; pencil; dance card (no inserts). Also, an item described according to its patent number 824391 ca. 1906 issued to Patrick Toomey—“Toilet Powder Receptacle “- that has a little retractable ball at its end.
Each piece is marked sterling, including the ring. Inside cover of dance card is marked “W & D” for Whiting and Davis, well known manufacturers of women’s purses and vanity items.
Monogrammed “GBB” on the perfume and dance card front cover.
There are surface scratches (magnified by digital photography) on the insides of the dance card holder since the inserts are no longer there. One end of the covers has a teeny bend.
Truly beautiful example of an early 1900s sterling chatelaine from an elegant era.
