Unusual late 19th century convertible [Horizontal or Vertical] brass loops picture frame. Measures approximately 8 3/4" x 10 3/4" overall; glass/photo area approximately 4 3/8" x 6 3/4", Originally held a Cabinet Card photograph. Very unusual mechanism on the back--you swivel [gently!] the easel to convert the frame from horizontal to vertical as desired. A variation on most ring pattern frames, this wonderful looped design with applied stamped scrolls in corners is probably English--the German DRGM frames have an entirely different convertible mechanism. Simply slide your photo behind the glass. Minor dings, etc. commensurate with age and use, since this Antique frame is over 110 years old. A FIND for the Antique frame collector and most desirable for its horizontal format. A frame I have never had before.
