Most unusual pair of Antique Brass Frames with a double border of rope twist design. Each one measures approximately 5 3/4" X 7 1/4"; photo/glass area approximately 4 1/4" X 6 1/2". Originally held Cabinet Card photographs. Date circa 1880s. Original easels have a "spring-back" feature---probably Scottish in origin. The frames have the rope twist border framing the opening and around the outside edge, ending in wonderful curled feet. Your photo slides in behind the glass. Notice that on one of the frames the rope twist is a bit uneven. There are some teeny dimples. Pairs of Antique frames are hard to find, and I have never seen this style before---whimsical feet make them very special. Sold as pair only. Price is for both.
