One of Tiffany's great patterns--"Olympian" was introduced at the Exposition Universelle in 1878. Measures approximately 9" long; bowl is approximately 1" deep; bowl itself is approximately 4 1/4" X 4 1/8". Marked on the back of the handle --- " C TIFFANY & CO. STERLING PAT.1878". [The "C" was used 1902-07] Weighs over 4 troy ounces; approximately 134 grams of pure sterling silver. There are 17 different handle designs, and this one depicts Orpheus and Eurydice. Crisp, detailed casting---there is a head on the back of the spoon where it joins the handle and two other heads as well on the back near the top of the handle--please see all photos. This is a "Saratoga Chip Server"---the oil from the Saratoga chips [what we call potato chips] drained through the holes in the bowl. How elegant! Note the three leaf clover and other wonderful shapes in the pierced bowl. Has not been professionally polished--some expected minor wear and tarnish spots, surface scratches, etc. from age and use. One of the most beautiful and hard to find serving pieces---a great addition to your dining table.
