Unusual Inlaid Turquoise Mosaic Spandrel Frame, circa 1900-10. Measures approximately 5 1/8" X 6 3/8"; the inside oval (meas. from the front) is approximately 3 1/4" X 4 1/2". These turquoise inlaid frames were made in India in the early 1900s, but I have had only one other one with this filigree border. The easel is original, the frame has not been polished, and you just slide your photo in behind the glass. There is an area approximately 1/8" square (see photo) on the top left where a stone is a bit sunken, but there. There are two areas near the center left and right where there is a slight separation between stones, common in these frames--I can send more photos. Overall in very good condition for its age and use. The turquoise part is approximately 3/16" deep with an oval brass surround. This frame is larger than most turquoise mosaics and the spandrel (oval inside rectangle) shape is perfect for a photo.
