Late 19th Century English Brass Whiplash Design Cabinet Card Photograph Holder stands approximately 10 1/8" high. There is a 1/8" wide X 6 3/4" long edge that the card sits on. Cabinet cards were introduced in 1866. Maintains its original patina--since it is brass, you may polish it to a shine if you wish. There is a spring on the back that moves up to accept the photograph, or a mirror, small painting, etc. -- the two brass curls in front would keep the painting or photo from falling off the thin edge, so it can be used as an easel.
