Beautifully Carved Walnut Black Forest Adjustable Sliding Book rack dates to the late 19th C. from Germany/Switzerland. Berries, grapes, vines and leaves are deeply carved [from one piece of 3/4" thick wood] into the ends which are hinged to fold flat. Pulling gently on the ends slides the book rack open to hold additional books. Measures overall 6 1/2" X 15 1/4" long closed; sides are 6 1/2" high. Measured at the longest point, completely open -- 24" long. When closed, it measures 13 1/4" between the ends; slides open to 22" between the ends--holds PLENTY of books--or CDs or DVDs! [Some customers use these to stack hand towels]. Wonderful example of quality Black Forest carving. Original brass hinges. The entire top surface of the book rack is carved, and underneath you can see the mellow patina--all original finish.
Shipped to Continental US ONLY via USPS Priority Insured Mail for $15.00.
