Marked on the back with the well-known Shiebler trademark -- "letter "S" in a circle between wings, STERLING, Pat. 1879". The Montezuma Pattern Spoon is not monogrammed; has Repousse teardrop shaped lobed designs in the bowl combined with Bright-Cut designs, scrolls, and flowers on the front and back of the Spoon. Shiebler was a famous New York City company, known for High-End Quality Goods. In the early 1890s they were the largest producer of novelties in silver extant at the time [Rainwater reference book, page 154]. Weighs approximately 40 grams/1.28 troy ounces of Sterling Silver.
