Oil on Canvas Painting of a girl holding a baby chick. Measures approximately 23" x 27 3/4" overall with frame; painting measures approximately 16 1/4" X 21". Probably painted in the 1930s. Reunited with the frame and liner that I purchased it with---the gold color liner later than the frame, which is wormy chestnut from the 1940s. On the back is a copy of sheet music that I saw years ago with a cover painting signed Maud Tousey Fangel [outlined] nearly identical to this one -- see photos. There was also a book "Babies" done in the 1930s, with cover art that matches this painting. This painting is unsigned -- either done in the manner of ["after"] Maud Tousey Fangel or possibly an unsigned study by the artist. Maud Fangel was known for her paintings of babies and children. There are some spots, etc. and small bumps; canvas laid down on masonite---would benefit from a cleaning. Frame has some minor flaws. Beautifully done, great subject matter---absolutely charming! [Included are extra brads, and 2 hooks for hanging].
