This late 19th Century Walnut Frame originates from the Black Forest area of Switzerland or Germany. Measures approximately 6" X 8" overall; photo/glass area approximately 3 1/2" X 5 1/2". It is completely hand-carved folk art, not a factory piece. An unusual mechanism on the back makes the frame convertible from horizontal to a vertical position merely by swiveling the wood leg. Even the "seeded" glass (hand-blown) is original. It is made from 4 pieces of walnut. The glass and photo slide in on the longest side.
