Antique grand tour architectural micro mosaic crucifix. The piece measures 5 3/4" x 3 1/8". Behind Christ there is a bed and pillow of flowers. Each of the four corners has a depiction of one of the four basilicae or highest ranking Roman catholic churches located in the diocese of Rome. This includes the basilica of St Peter, St John Lateran, St Paul and St Maria Maggione. The crucifix dates from the late 19th to early 20th century. It would have been purchased in Rome during a grand European tour. Condition is good. No missing tiles.
