Dated 1847 mother of pearl baby teething bar silver whistle rattle as found. The piece measures 2 5/8" long and 3/4" at the widest. It is engraved with the name A.L. Permenter and dated 1847. There is a bale on the side of the piece that once would have had a bell to make this a rattle but the little bell is missing. There is an indented area on the underside of the silver whistle. There are some scratches and dings in the silver as shown. There is some chipping along the edge of the mother of pearl teething bar. Although this was meant for a baby, it makes a great whistle pendant as is. I have not tested the silver so I do not know if it is sterling.
