Here's a rare find! A collar or lapel pin in 10K gold with enamel. Front says SPEBSQSA, in enamel banner, over a barber pole which stands for "The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America." Under in gold says District Champs 1967
The championship was won that year by: The Four Statesmen whose members were: Frank Lanza – tenor Dick Chacos – lead Doc Sause – baritone Don Beinema – bass
Note: THE BARBERSHOP HARMONY SOCIETY, started in 1938 when a lawyer by the name of O. C. Cash got together with some friends to revive the lost art of male voices singing in close harmony. The original name was "The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America."
