An Italian Roman Micro Mosaic paper weight from the 19th century. The black marble plaque of serpentine form has five Roman Micro Mosaic inlays: the Pliny Doves to the centre and four views of Rome, The Colosseum, St Peters, the Pantheon and the Forum Romanum. The Micro Mosaics are in perfect condition and have tiny tesserae which are smooth to the touch. The condition is excellent , there are some small chips along the outer edge. The Micro Mosaic paper weight is dated at the mid 19th century. Length: 3.9"( 100 mm) Width: 2.8"( 70 mm)
