Antique French silver plate box depicting a wolf and a lamb in beautiful relief work. The scene is inspired by a fable of the French fable counter La Fontaine, one of the most famous French poets of the 17th century.The animals are standing in a beautiful landscape surrounded by flowers and birds. On the rim the words " Le loup et l´agneau" ( The wolf and the lamb)are incised. The four sides of the box are adorned with garlands and c-scrolls. The box is made of silver plated copper. It is tufted with red silk inside. The box is in excellent condition and closes perfectly. It is dated at the 19th century.
