Antique 18th century silk needle work on a woven fabric. The scene is depicting the disciples of Emmaus, mentioned in the Gospel of Luke of the New Testament. Luke reports that Jesus appeared, after his death and resurrection, before two of his disciples while they were walking on the road to Emmaus.
The needle work is crafted with multi color silk thread and partly with gold thread. It is an extremely fine work with lovely detail. The silk work is set in its original red velvet frame and gilt wood frame. It is glazed for protection. This very rare needle work is in very good antique condition and dated at ca.1750.
