Antique Italian silver plate figurine depicting an Italian soldier. The figurine is of great detail and standing on a rectangular silver base on which the words are incised: Zappatore del Genio. Soldiers belonging to the group of Zappatore del Genio had the task to prepare blockades for the enemy. The first regiment of Zappatore del Genio is mentioned in 1848.The figure is in excellent condition and the silver plate is of good quality. It is dated at the late 19th century.
