Fine example of an antique canivet. The Canivet is an art connected to small holy pictures which had its origin in France in the 13th century With this craft, the holy pictures are realized in a sort of needlework on a light perforated paper with an as perforated edge, forming a lace. This is a canivet of the late 18th century and is of incredible quality and detail. It has a painting of Jesus as "pastor bonus" in the center.Because of the age a part on the left side is missing.
