A 1950s or early 60s Montparnasse wood frame with a Louis XV style ornate motif and the most delicate color.
The Montparnasse style for frames is VERY hot right now, and this is a perfect example of the genre. The genre can be summed up as basically light, subdued colors, with intricate though fairy flat relief, and enhanced on the volume crests with slightly darker tones.
The color in this piece is a gray but with a slight touch of moss green in it. This is a very rare tone even by Montparnasse standards, and incredibly Chic!
The motif is not carved but molded like a gesso. This is well done and very realistic.
The frame will bring vintage charm and a lot of character to any artwork and decor.
Tis fits a regular 20X24 artwork, and it an be used both ways: vertically or horizontally.
