From the 1867 Grandville edition of "Fleurs Animees" (Garnier Freres edition) this is an authentic 19th Century engraving (not a reproduction!) with its original hand watercolor, signed Grandville in the plate in the lower left corner.
CHEVREFEUILLE (Honeysuckle) is one the most charming scenes in the "Fleurs Animees" series, as it portrays a lovely Victorian lady dressed like a honeysuckle with a rare animal, a goat.
(goats love honeysuckle, and honeysuckle is literally called "goat's leaf" in French)
Colors are beautiful: pinks, burgundy and a fresh green.
A whimsical piece to keep preciously as the original "Fleurs Animees" are disappearing fast!
(Please check my other Grandville, I currently have a lovely collection)
