Hard to resist this adorable French nude from the Art Deco era!
The piece was published in a French magazine in 1912
( Art Deco in Europe started in the 1910s, and ended before 1938 or WWII )
and is signed "Gustave Brisgand" in the plate, in the lower right corner.
Gustave Joseph Marie Brisgand (1867-1944) was a famous French painter and pastel artist of the Art Deco era, specializing in female nudes and portraits.
You will see his biography in the French Wikipedia.
He was the portraitist to the stars!
Marlene Dietrich, Musidora, La Begum, etc. and was even invited by the Queen of England, Mary, in 1910, to make her portrait.
The piece is very likely printed after a pastel, as it has this wonderfully soft, powdery quality of the medium.
The title of the piece is "Reveil" which could be translated into "Rise & Shine", and it shows a lovely young lady sitting on her bed, fresh like a rose!
This exquisite piece done by a top Art Deco artist will bring vintage charm to any decor!
