Antique 18th C Century French Religious Print Engraving With Watercolor 1 ANGEL & Abraham DIVINE!

An exceptional French religious engraving with hand watercolor from the time of Voltaire and Rousseau!
Circa 1750-1780
(There are 2 pieces from the same provenance that would make a divine set!)

This piece shows Isaac's sacrifice with the Angel holding Abraham's arm just in time.

The colors, which are original to the piece, are cobalt blue, red, hunter's green and moss green, and a very light baby blue for the Angel's wings.

The series is from the Bible, First Book of Moses, and the text says in French rhymes:
"Abraham offre a Dieu son fils en sacrifice,
est soudain arrete par un Ange propice"
or
Abraham who gives his Son to God in sacrifice, is suddenly halted by a well-timed Angel

The piece is rare, beautiful. and after years of browsing for antique prints, I can say absolutely exceptional.

CONDITION:
In very good condition with normal darkening of the engraving paper and substantial foxing due to age. Colors are particularly fresh.

The piece has a very delicate matting in the Louis XV style, going back to the 1900s-1920s. It is really delightful and if not kept, should in my opinion serve as a model for a newer mat, as it suits the artwork perfectly.
