From the 1980s, a fantastic French "Trompe L'Oeil" painting showing a vivid still life against a Southern France landscape.
The trompe l'oeil is so successful that the painting's able to make you believe the cloth under the jug is dropping off the piece!
Also that the ornate frame is actually an open window letting you gaze into the distance.
WOW!
The stiil life's an arrangement of rustic ceramics:
2 jugs and a hand painted plate at the back,
a large pink candle and fruits: a peach and a lemon.
The bouquet in the central jug seems to be made of lilac and yellow roses.
The landscape's typical of the South of France with its red tile roofs. We see fields and a hilly skyline.
The spectacular cloth, so traditionally country French is a woven linen.
No need to frame the piece as its lovely Montparnasse frame's already part of the artwork!
The piece is an acrylic on wood signed " B. Desvignes" at the back.
This amazing trompe l'oeil will bring poetry and a strong touch of originality to any decor!
