A vintage French watercolor from the Mid Century, with charm and a LOT of character!
The piece is fairly large and is signed "Jeandet" in the lower right corner.
It is done on thick parchment paper.
The scene represents a narrow paved street in a French town, with a store on the left painted an aqua tone, that sells vegetables and fruit in old wooden displays outside, and on the right, what looks like the open entrance to a corner Cafe, recognizable at its dark coffee color wooden front.
There is an old lamp post, and a variety of post War ads painted directly on the wall. Billboards would only appear later.
In the distance, one can see the impressive town church with its lower buildings, clock and stately steeple.
There is so much charm to this vintage piece, like strolling in the old days, through its winding streets, faded colors, pale sunshine and peace!
Will bring a touch of vintage nostalgia to any decor.
