Published in 1927 as a bookplate, this is an exquisite woodcut by Raphael Drouart (1884-1972) a French artist listed in the Benezit, and famous for his Art Deco works.
The scene is located on the French Riviera, near Cannes, and shows a man rowing in a boat among reeds
The style is typical of Drouart, dark strokes, close to each other, contrasted skies and lush vegetation.
The scene is very poetic, an aquatic reverie.
A precious piece, that can be enhanced by a large matt, and will bring sophistication to any decor.
Please check out my other excellent Drouart woodcut ith the Lady on the Riviera. Both pieces will make a very elegant pair.
CONDITION: In very good condition. Minor foxing on the external margin edges. This is a separate sheet, no text at the back.
