A very rare French 18k gold stickpin with topaz pink and emerald green foiled crystals, or paste, from the time of Marie Antoinette, circa 1740-1780.
The pin has the exquisite feel of a flower, slightly oval in shape, with an array of gold bubbles and tiny holes between the green crystals.
There is a glorious pink center to the flower, in this very special tone and shimmer mostly found in the Georgian era.
The stickpin tests positive for 18k on both parts, and weighs 1, 20 grams. It also has a hallmark which seems to show an eagle's head, the French symbol for 18k. (Last pic)
In the 18th Century, stones were mounted with their backs sealed, and also foiled inside, which is the case here.
The piece belonged to a man of the French aristocracy very likely, shortly before the Revolution of 1789. God knows what may have happened to him later in the Century!
The pin can be worn vertically or on the side. And today, by men or women.
A genuine treasure with a touch of History, that is sure to bring absolute glamour to any outfit!
