DIVINE is the word!
One of the most amazing French Art Deco compositions ever, signed "Baudin" and which was created for the Xmas cover of "L'illustration" in 1927.
This is the original artwork, not a modern reproduction!
Georges Baudin (1882-1960) born in Paris, was a painter, wood engraver and illustrator. He is listed in the "Dictionnaire des Illustrateurs Francais".
The piece is very large (16") and the paper fairly rigid, which explains why it has survived so well to this day.
The colors are as beautiful as a Klimt! A harmony of Persian turquoise, ultramarine, navy, black and a muted green/ocher.
The subject is the Zodiac, with an original creation for each sign, and an exquisite lady in the middle, holding a light.
Poetic, vibrant and altogether breathtaking, this magnificent piece will bring elegance and beauty to any decor.
MEASUREMENTS: Length: 16". Width: 11 7/8" ( 40.5 cm) by ( 30 cm)
CONDITION: In very good condition, with some wear and mini tears to the outside navy border.
Will be shipped "Expedited" from Paris, including insurance and signature at delivery. * * * * * * * * MORE ART DECO ARTWORKS IN MY FINE ART & COLLECTIBLES CATEGORIES* * * * * * *
