I could not resist this portrait of a 1890 French actress, Mademoiselle Margel, that looks exactly like a 1960s California Hippie!
This is too much fun.
Plus the costume and portrait are really beautiful.
The actress wears a richly embroidered late Middle Ages dress with a sophisticated bodice, and has her hair flowing and parted in the middle like a real Flower Girl.
The print is a photogravure, so printed from an early photograph, which seems to have besides been colorized by hand.
It is done on a fairly thick paper and must have been an insert in an Art review of the time.
(no text at the back)
Mademoiselle Margel must have been famous in the Art Nouveau times as she played in a renowned Paris theater called "Les Mathurins".
A delightful print that will bring a touch of whimsical poetry to any decor.
