An amazing piece by all standards!
From a sketch book by Catherine Proudhon, a French woman artist of the Victorian times, this is a totally unusual scene: a young girl holding a pot of butter, just like in "Little Riding Hood". Circa 1860.
As a matter of fact, this is exactly what the artist has written below the drawing: "Le Petit Chaperon Rouge".
The young girl's features are just adorable!
She looks at you with her big innocent eyes, blue or green, and wears her curly blonde hair under the short turban, typical of the time.
This is a charcoal drawing so the technique gives a lot of three dimensional relief to the piece.
The piece is quite large for the time, but since this is a sketch book sheet, it is quite acceptable to trim it a little bit for framing.
The portrait is strong, memorable and whimsical and will bring A LOT of character to any decor.
Drawings are in!
