The same enchanting French gardens seen from 2 different angles (see 1825PNT) by a French woman artist from the first half of the 20th Century, Lucie Navier, and dated 1926 at the back.
Mrs Navier's atelier collection was scattered recently, and from the different paintings I saw, she was mostly active before WWII.
This horizontal garden scene is absolutely stunning.
Very colorful, it has besides a thick black border that increases contrast.
I believe this is the "Parc de Bagatelle" on the outskirts of Paris, famous for its roses and Classical architecture, and that the city in the background is Paris itself.
The medium is a thick watercolor, also known as "gouache".
The style is definitely Art Deco, with streamlined shapes and intense coloring, meant to be visually striking and decorative.
The work is done on artist's paper.
The piece stands out by its totally original rendering. It has character and a naive, genuine, beauty. Keep it preciously.
CONDITION:
In very good condition for its age. Colors still very vibrant. No particular loss.
MEASUREMENTS:
