A small watercolor dated 1885 at the back, and showing an exquisite Scottish landscape, with distant purplish mountains and a fresh brook in the foreground.
I went once to Scotland, and it is just like this!
A dream place, with more natural spaces than inhabitants. Soft hills, and water everywhere. (including the one that falls on your head!)
The piece is from an album of watercolors, the kind many 19th Century English or Scottish travelers, would fill with their enchantment at mother nature.
Protected from daylight, the piece has kept its beautiful, original pastel colors.
The painting is signed at the front with pencil: "Anthony Ludez"? This is not very legible.
This genuine, well rendered piece, will bring antique charm to any decor!
CONDITION: In very good condition, no damage.
MEASUREMENTS: Length: 6 7/8". Width: 5".
