An antique seashell encrusted box with hinged lid. These boxes are often referred to as Sailor’s Valentine boxes and they show the individuality of the person that made them. Shells are arranged in various designs on paper board or wooden boxes. This box is made of heavy paper and has been painted in a washed black and white checkerboard. Tiny shells surround a pale pink shell.

Condition Report; Very good, two shells have tiny holes and the edges of the box have wear consistent with age and use.
