A set of eight antique Royal Doulton bouillon/cream soup bowls with under plates. The set is marked for the studio of Robert Allen who was not only an important artist but also a pattern designer for Royal Doulton. The pattern number is #5485 and the cups feature a female statue with a musical instrument. She stands on a raised base between Ionic columns in a formal garden. Of interesting note; the under plates feature a different statue with a different instrument. The china is further decorated with floral swags and gilt trim on the top and bottom edges along with the handles. Soft greens and warm browns on a pure while background with a touch of gilt in a very classical design.
